#6 Great empires from little grains grow

If you want to create a country of your own, it is best to go to Liberland, a territory that arose from a border dispute between Croatia and Serbia. This territory is currently unclaimed by any country due to changes to the Danube River, which defines the border. The evolution of the river is due to sediment transport, so the physical phenomenon can have international consequences, literally. However, there are also relevant questions in physics that are still misunderstood. For example, how does the size distribution of particles in a compact medium (such as soil) and their rearrangement influence the flow of a fluid through it? In this project, we will use the lattice-Boltzmann method to simulate fluid dynamics and particle transport.
