#7 Stabilizing and Moving Magnetic Skyrmions

In the context of magnetism and soft matter, skyrmions are topologically stable vector textures that emerge due to the competition of various interactions. These textures can deform while moving once they are formed. In magnetic systems, for example, this deformation occurs as a response to low current densities or temperature gradients. However, nucleating and displacing skyrmions in straight lines along applied currents has proven challenging. The project involves stabilizing a skyrmion using Monte Carlo simulation and studying its texture's response to movement. The objective is to provide the student with a general understanding of skyrmions and the use of simulation methods in physics, which can be applied to other systems.
