#2 Computational Study of Paper Crumpling
Hélder Esteves
Supervisor(s):

Explore paper crumpling mechanics through computational simulations to analyse fold formation, energy dissipation, and structural properties. Participants will develop a mass-spring network model using LAMMPS to simulate a thin sheet's crumpling behaviour, focusing on stress distribution and fold formation under varied conditions. The project aims to compare simulated data with experimental results, studying the impact of sheet size, material properties, and constraints. Expected outcomes include insights into energy and crease dynamics and a framework for future thin sheet studies. Participants will enhance skills in computational physics, simulations, data analysis, and programming.
Requirements include basic programming skills and a physics background.
