#6 Kirigami on the 4th Dimension
João Neves
Supervisor(s):

Polyhedra can be unfolded by cutting along their edges and unfolding single connected faces. The result is a set of connected polygons which we call a net. But what happens when we try to unfold 4th dimensional polytopes like the tesseract? Salvador Dalí asked himself the same question, and the answer moved him. A 4-polytope, that is a 4th dimension equivalent of a polyhedron can be unfolded as well, the result will be a set of connecting polyhedra. In this internship we will work to answer the question: How to unfold a tesseract into a Dalí Cross?.
